A 15 minute walk from the Schönbrunn Hotel takes you to the Trauttmansdorff Castle. The manor, which empress Sissi inhabited for some periods in her life, has been renovated and includes a group of gardens that rank amongst Europe’s finest and most interesting.
Plants from all the world round grow across the four „thematic” gardens, which are divided into 80 „landscapes”: the Water and Terraced Gardens with their flowerbeds and watercourses, the Forests of the Worls where deciduous trees and conifers of American and Asiatic origin grow alongside each other, the Landscapes of South Tyrol displaying typical views of our land. .
It is a „must” for plants and flower lovers! An interesting and unusual museum of tourism, known as „Touriseum”, has been set up within the castle’s ancient walls.
